What Happens When it Snows in Boulder? (Underwear Football!)

The snowstorm that came through Colorado tonight actually brought the first snow of the year to Boulder! Granted it was only about 2 inches but it was the first snowfall of the season in Boulder so it was marked with joyous celebration.

As I walked home from work I saw groups of people breaking out into spontaneous snowball fight and the creation of armies of snowmen. When me and some of my friends were outside later this guy started yelling at us because he thought we screwed up his snow man. He was REALLY pissed but we managed to convince him that someone else destroyed his snowman and he left without incident.

Now is where the story gets interesting. A bunch of us in the dorm, remember the name Cockerell, as this is in the works to become a tradition, decided that we would celebrate the first snowfall with a game of football in the snow! While we were playing a bunch of girls from our dorm decided to run around the dorm once in the snow in their bikinis. A few of them joined us playing football and before too long suggested that it was not fair for the guys to remain fully clothed!

Thus was born the Boulder Underwear Snow-Football League! We played a full hour in the snow in nothing but boxers and bikinis! We must've had a crowd of at least 60 people watching us through the windows of the nearby dorms, and several groups of passerbys stopped to watch the festivities. It was great fun and a lot of people yelled that we were crazy but a few seemed to enjoy what was happening and yelled "Yeah take it off!!!" apparently I play sports better half naked, as I had three touchdown receptions! There are a couple pictures in my Myspace photos, but there are several more on facebook to check out! You are much more concerned about falling as a result of cutting in the snow when you aren't wearing much, and playing defence is much more interesting when you aren't sure just how you can two hand touch someone who's not wearing much :) After we were all beginning to lose feeling in many areas of our bodies we decided to go inside and warm up with hot chocolate and a movie! It was a blast!!! Look for another game come next snow!!!
