Life Beyond Ranch: The First Two Weeks of College

College has been awesome these first two weeks! I have been super busy but everything has been going great! I have met many new people whom I spend a lot of time with and I've gotten the ins and outs of campus down pretty well. I've been suprised just how friendly everyone is here, I feel completely comfortable around most everyone and have enjoyed seeing the variety of thought and expression the people around me possess. I have a full load of classes with Calculus for Engineers, Engineering Chemistry, Economics, Introduction to Aerospace Sciences, and Engineering Projects, but they are all interesting so far. My favorite class thus far would have to be Engineering Projects. Our project for the month of September is to design a trebuchet, which in the midieval ages was used to hurl boulders as a siege weapon. Ours will fire much less lethal grapes and we will be graded for our ability to fire the grapes long distances accurately. I'm also balancing a job at one of the colleges dining centers and I play to play intramural hockey, frisbee, volleyball, and broomball. I'm also very excited because tommorow I'm going to an open house hosted by the Colorado Space Grant which is an oppourtunity to work as a student on various satellites and scientific experiments that will be launched into space! So far I'm loving Boulder! So far I would say the only disappointments I've had is that I've had to miss out on a couple of things because of work, but I suppose that is to be expected. Overall everything is going extremely well!
